Village women to be empowered

VARANASI: World Literacy Canada, a non-profit Canadian organisation, is all set to launch an innovative 'Teacher Role Model (TRM) Project' to mark the International Women's Day in the district.

As per Sachin Kumar, TRM manager (India), the project to be started on March 9 in the district would train, mentor and employ as many as 400 young women (aged between 18 and 25 years) from villages of Varanasi and Chandauli. It would also help those women to become empowered teachers and role models in their communities, he added.

It might be mentioned that World Literacy Canada has already developed project curriculum in the form of a TRM course book and TRM training manual that would be launched at Gandhi Adhyan Peeth, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, on the same day.
