Tina Munim had a successful Bollywood career during the late seventies and early eighties. She is 5'5" tall, an Aquarian, born on February 11, 1957, in a middle class Gujarati speaking family who lived in Bhuleshwar, Bombay. She was discovered by Dev Anand after she represented India at the International Teen Princess contest in Aruba, and won the Miss Photogenic and Miss Bikini awards. Tina aspired to become a Parisian trained couturier and was poised to travel there for her studies in design when approached with a cinematic offer. In 1978 Dev Anand cast her in his film Des Pardes, which launched her film career. He would repeat her in several other films, such as Lootmar (1980). Sunil Dutt launched his son Sanjay Dutt in his film debut Rocky (1981). Tina was chosen as Sanjay's heroine. The screen love story is said to have blossomed into a real life affair between them, but it was short-lived. The breakup was said to have devastated Sanjay at the time, but years later, he did show up as a guest for her wedding to industrialist Anil Ambani. She was also romantically linked with Rajesh Khanna after they starred in the huge hit film Souten(1983). The relationship created a lot of publicity as Khanna was married to Dimple Kapadia at the time. Tina and Rajesh acted in several films, including Shakti Samanta's film Alag Alag (1985), which wasn't a hit. The relationship ended shortly thereafter. Apart from Dev Anand, she also made a popular screen team with actor Rishi Kapoor, since they were paired romantically in six films, the most popular being Subhash Ghai's Karz (1980). Producer/Director/Actor Rakesh Roshan also cast her several times, including for the hit film "Aakhir Kyon?" (1985). Director Basu Chatterjee repeated her as well in his films, such as for Baaton Baaton Mein (1979) and Man Pasand (1980). In the late 1980s Munim made the conscious decision to put her Bollywood career on hiatus. She moved to California and attended college. In 1991 she returned to India and married industrialist Anil Ambani. Today she is involved in a number of charity, arts, and talent endeavors and hasn't made any new film since the mid 1980s. She has two sons Jai Anmol and Jai Anshul.
