Pencil drawing by Thomas (1749-1840) and William Daniell (1769-1837) of a view of the Palace of Raja Balwant Singh at Ramnagar near Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, dated 14th November 1789. This image shows Thomas and William seated on the deck of a pinnace which flies the Union Jack. The drawing was originally inscribed on the mount in ink and pencil: 'Ramnugar, near Benares, on the River Ganges.' and is the original for Plate 14 of Part One of the Daniell's publication 'Oriental Scenery.'
