Varanasi, Sep 13: A doctor was shot dead today by two persons riding a motorcycle at Pandeypur locality of the city.
Supertinedent of Police Rakesh Mehrotra said the assailants gunned down D.P. Singh, a radiologist in a government health centre at Jansha near Varanasi, this morning when he was returning home in Doctors Colony after morning walk.
He said the assailants pumped six bullets into the chest and abdomen of Singh who died on the spot.
The deceased doctor's wife is a gynaecologist and runs a nurshing home.
Police said matter was being investigated but no one has been detained so far in connection with the murder.
